This beautifully appointed log cabin is nestled in the private gated community of Powder Horn Mountain, just 10 miles from downtown Boone. With three levels of decks and mountain views, a hot tub, and a fully equipped game room, this home is designed for a relaxing and memorable High Country getaway.

Sleeping up to 10 guests comfortably, this is more than just a vacation rental — it’s a well-equipped mountain home where you can truly settle in and unwind.

This home is exceptionally well stocked for cooking and entertaining. You’ll find everything needed for baking, grilling, meal prep, and serving. High-speed fiber internet is provided through Skyline SkyBest, making it ideal for streaming or remote work.

Community Amenities – Powder Horn Mountain
Powder Horn Mountain is a private gated community offering a wide range of amenities for guests in a beautiful rural setting. Guests have free access to the seasonal community pool, typically open from late May through early September. Additional amenities include a fitness center and game room—both located in the clubhouse—a playground, paddle boats, a tennis/ pickle ball court, basketball goal, disc golf course, and miles of well-marked hiking trails.

Fishing is available in three community ponds as well as in Laurel Creek and Elk Creek. Fishing in either creek requires a valid North Carolina fishing license. The community also features a campground along Laurel Creek that is ideal for an evening fire, s’mores, or a game of horseshoes. With full-time maintenance staff, roads and access are well maintained year-round, including during winter months.

Additional Information
Linens and bath towels are provided. Beach towels are provided during the summer months. Guests are encouraged to bring extra towels for hot tub use.

The closest grocery store is Food Lion at the top of Elk Creek Road, about 15 minutes away. We recommend picking up groceries before arrival—many guests find they don’t want to leave once they’re settled in.

Dogs are welcome. The pet fee is $50 per pet and is charged separately after booking. Please note all pets at the time of reservation.

The property is well appointed, has plenty of room for a large family or multiple families to relax and has so much to do without even getting in your car.   We spent our Thanksgiving at the Hurricane Hideaway. There were 4 adults and 3 kids (ages 16, 14, and 10). We had a wonderful trip. The cabin was cozy (especially with the indoor gas fireplace) and there was enough space for all of us. The primary bedroom was huge with a comfortable king sized bed. The bunk room was perfect for our kids. The shower pressure in the shower was great! The kitchen was on the smaller side, but was fine for our short stay. We would have liked a large table so all 7 of us could have eaten at the same table, but everyone had a spot between 2 tables. I would have liked the kitchen to have more containers to store leftovers, but there isn't a ton of cabinet space, so I'm sure they just have to keep all of the real necessities stocked. They had 2 crock pots, which were great! There is not a garbage disposal. The clubhouse is so nice and a short drive (or a very hilly walk). We met friends here and had dinner together. We also took advantage of the big screened TV there. We drove into Boone one day, which is a cute little town and had lunch and walked around App State University. You won't want to leave very often though. It's a 30 minute drive to Boone on very steep and windy roads. We had a great trip!

  We booked Hurricane Hideaway for a late 60th birthday celebration. The property manager provided great, clear directions and the house was clean and maintained. The porches are lovely and the hot tub was a hit. It is 'off the beaten path' so if you're wanting to go into Boone or Blowing Rock, go out to eat or otherwise fairly often, it may not be the location for you. But, we had young kids with us so we planned on cooking the whole time. Hiking and creek nearby and easily accessible. Unfortunately, it was too cold to use the pool but otherwise, I would have liked to! Would recommend!

  We loved our stay at this cabin, it's even more scenic than in the pictures and it housed our family really well. The only slight inconveniences we experienced were that a few light bulbs were out - one lamp in the living room, the hallway light, and the outside lights on the upper 2 back decks. There was other lighting so the place wasn't too dark but it would have been nice to have these. The mifi that is provided was already capped out with data so we weren't able to use it, which was a bit of a surprise, but we tried to enjoy being disconnected and really immerse ourselves in the mountains.

  This properly is spectacular! 3 levels and ample room for a big group. Home is in fantastic shape with beautiful features! Property manager was incredible to work with. Our family has traveled quite a bit. We have stayed at some nice properties. This property is sure to please!!
