Built in 2020, Little Hare Hideaway is a beautifully designed mountain retreat located in the gated Powder Horn Mountain community. Thoughtfully appointed and carefully maintained, this home combines modern comfort with rustic charm, offering the perfect High Country getaway in every season.

Now featuring a private hot tub, this cabin is designed for relaxation, connection, and creating lasting memories.

Sleeping Arrangements & Layout
Main Level: Primary suite with King bed and full bathroom - Second primary bedroom with Queen bed - Additional bathroom - Comfortable living area with wood-burning fireplace - Fully equipped kitchen and dining space
Upper Level: Bedroom with two sets of full-size bunk beds and Private full bathroom
This layout makes the home ideal for multiple families or groups while still providing privacy and convenience.

Kitchen & Home Features
The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, strainers, measuring tools, knives, cutting boards, auto drip coffee maker, and all the essentials needed for preparing and serving meals. This house is beautifully appointed with luxury bedding, gorgeous finishes, and thoughtful touches throughout. Gather around the wood burning fireplace in the living room and enjoy mountain life!

Little Hare Hideaway is equipped with SkyBest unlimited fiber optic internet and DirectTV. All televisions are Smart TVs, allowing guests to log into their own streaming accounts such as Netflix or Hulu. A WiFi extender is installed upstairs to ensure strong connectivity throughout the home. Cell phone service can be spotty in the mountains, but WiFi calling is available (please check your phone settings prior to arrival).

A Pack and Play and high chair are located in the main floor primary closet for guest use. Board games are also stored in that closet; adult supervision is appreciated to help keep all pieces accounted for.

Outdoor Living
Relax in the private hot tub after a day of exploring or lounge around in the ample outside seating area. There is a fun fire pit area, too!

Powder Horn Mountain is a private gated community offering a wide variety of amenities for guests.

Guests have free access to the seasonal community pool, typically open from late May through early September. Additional amenities include a fitness center and game room—both located in the clubhouse—a playground, paddle boats, tennis and pickleball court, basketball goal, disc golf course, and miles of well-marked hiking trails.

Fishing is available in three community ponds as well as in Laurel Creek and Elk Creek. Fishing in either creek requires a valid North Carolina fishing license. The community also features a campground along Laurel Creek that is ideal for an evening fire, s’mores, or a game of horseshoes.

Little Hare Hideaway is located in Deep Gap, North Carolina within Powder Horn Mountain. The setting is peaceful and wooded, yet just 20–25 minutes to downtown Boone and Appalachian State University. Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, and West Jefferson are all within easy driving distance.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy fly fishing, hiking the Appalachian Trail, exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains, and scenic drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can also enjoy guided horseback riding and scenic trail experiences at Leatherwood Mountains Resort, located just 15 minutes away.

During football season, App State games bring exciting energy to Boone, and throughout the year the High Country hosts festivals, winery tours, brewery visits, shopping, and outstanding local dining.

The home is conveniently located just a few hours from Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Raleigh, making it an easy and rewarding mountain escape.

Additional Information

Dogs are welcome. The pet fee is $50 per pet and is charged separately after booking. Please note all pets at the time of reservation. Couch covers are provided for furry friends and we kindly ask that they be used during your stay.

  Wow what a great cabin! Very well stocked, clean, and comfortable beds. This cabin has it all. Great community as well, very walk-able and within 30 minutes of just about anything you want or need. Beautiful scenery. I don't view this as a negative, but you should be aware you aren't getting cell signal until you get out of the valley unless you are connected to the cabin's WIFI. For me it was a bonus.

  We celebrated two birthdays at this beautiful home. We only left one time to get groceries because this cabin had it all! We brought our 15 month old granddaughter and there was already a highchair and pack and play there. Our 2 pups felt right at home too. Our favorite thing was the hot tub and we spent lots of time there. We missed having a fire pit because of the fire ban, but we will be back! This is one of our favorite neighborhoods and this cabin was top notch!

  Lovely house. Very comfortable. Also great soundproofing as one of the other houses nearby was getting roofing done and you couldn’t hear it in the house. Thought the bunnies in the decorations were cute. The community was nice. Loved the trails! The waterfall trails were absolutely gorgeous We were a group of adults (and dog) so the amount of beds was great. Especially nice that even though some of the beds were bunk beds, they were full size so we didn’t have to cram an adult into a twin. Okay he dog accommodations were nice (the dog bowls, the leash, the baby gate on the porch). Apparently renters aren’t supposed to use the fire pit but you can go use one of the campsites. We didn’t bother so I can’t say how the campsite is, we just used the propane grill as it was more simple. There was a nice little care package with hot chocolate and s’mores supplies when we arrived. Also there was a hot tub which was great!

The only thing I would mention is that there is a good bit of run-off at the bottom of the entrance stairs, creating a very high step off. BTW, Deep Gap is not in the District of Columbia!
