THE SPACE
NEW HOT TUB!! Welcome to Star View Cabin! The space has been setup to accommodate up to 10 guests comfortably. With no stairs, the main floor includes kitchen, living room, 1 King Bedroom and 4 Twins (2 bunks) in Second Bedroom and a full bath. Upstairs includes another full bath, along with a 1 King Bedroom. Downstairs includes an open family room with 1 Queen bed, full bath, laundry room and lower deck access. The new, well equipped kitchen has all new appliances including a gas range. All appliances are full size and smaller appliances like crock pot, blender, Keurig and drip coffee maker, cooking utensils and pots and pans, cookie sheets, strainers, knives etc. are included. Exceptionally well stocked for the pickiest cook. Approx. 8 miles to the closest grocery store but Instacart delivers from several stores if anything is forgotten. Wireless Wifi internet has supported multiple people working from home but we recommend downloading your Netflix favorites just in case.

Renters have access to the outdoor pool during the summer months as well as hiking trails, clubhouse, fitness center, tennis, campground, fishing, paddle boating, and more at no additional cost. Don’t forget to star gaze in the amazingly dark sky!

Just minutes to Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Rocky Knob Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, Tweetsie Railroad, New River Tubing, horseback riding at Leatherwood Stables, breweries, wineries, camping, fly fishing, and Elk/Laurel Creek, this property is perfect for your next family vacation. Drive less than an hour to ski or snow tube with the kids, 30 minutes to App State football games, and High Country festivals/concerts for more family fun! The house is a great getaway, located just a few hours from Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston Salem, and Raleigh.

All linens, starter paper towels and toilet paper provided. Dogs welcome with $50 fee, max two. Smoking is prohibited at all cabins and there is a $250 fine for anyone that smokes or vapes inside. Virtual tour is available. There is no additional fee to use the community amenities. You will receive booking correspondence when you book that will have the combination to your house as well as your gate code. Please print this off prior to arrival. Fishing in the ponds within the community is welcome without a permit. If you fish on Elk Creek you will need a fishing license. The ponds are not for swimming but the river at the campground is a great place to take a dip! This house does not have an outdoor firepit but we encourage guests to reserve a campground site for their night of s'mores! Wood burning fireplaces on two levels. Wood is not provided but you can order some from your property manager when you book. Check in time is 4pm and check out is 10am.

Guest access

You will easily be able to park two cars in the driveway a third depending on size, would also be easy to park. The cabin is at the end of the street so if you need to park past the house you can or additional vehicles can be parked in the overflow lot by the clubhouse. You will need a car to get around.

Other things to note

You do not need 4wd unless we are expecting a nasty storm and you need to get out right away. Please be prepared for those situations. There is a gated entry to the community and you do need to come in the front gate. You will get a guest pass at the front gate when you check in during normal business hours or on Sat from 7am till 5pm. If you arrive in the evening please just pick up your pass the next day. There is no additional fee to use the amenities in the community.

My kids loved the little details, from the play camp fire in their room or the stars hidden around the cabin for them to find.   We had the best stay at Star View cabin on Powderhorn Mountain. The area is remote, but close enough to Boone that it was not inconvenient. The cabin itself was in a beautiful setting, clean, appliances all worked well, and comfortable. The personalized basket for welcome was a really nice touch. Property management was very helpful and clear with check in instructions,directions to get there, helpful tips, and suggestions on things to do. Check out was clear and simple. The resort area itself was nice with ample amenities and really nice marked trails with different levels of difficulty. The people who live there are kind, welcoming, and love being there. All in all we had a wonderful stay and will not hesitate to recommend this cabin and Moonlight Property Management again. Thank you for helping us have a great time away!

  From the start, Susan was wonderful and her communication was superb. The winding drive to get there seemed long but in reality, we were a short distance to Boone. As suggested, get your groceries and supplies before you get there! The cabin was very clean and was as described. The view was amazing. We had no problem staying warm and just enjoyed a lot of down time. Predicted icy weather cut our visit short by one day.   We had a very nice visit here over the Thanksgiving Holiday. The cabin met all our needs and one was of the most child friendly places we have ever stayed as a family. We have 2 granddaughters and there were games and toys to occupy a five year old, and a playpen and high chair for a 9 month old. It was quiet and spacious and delivered everything advertised!

  This was a great place for a family vacation. During the summer if you have small kids this would be a great location for hanging around and going to the pool, pond activities, shaded hikes. During the fall it’s a bit of a drive to Boone/Blowing Rock but not bad especially if you are planning to spend the day out somewhere.
